
Archery Experience
Archery (t’ ùgwaa O-ka-S-ø-geech) - Used by the Tlingit peoples for mostly fishing, the bow and arrow was an important tool! After some instruction form your tour guide, challenge yourself utilizing modern interpretations of traditional designed recurve bows. The archery tour allows you launch 5 arrows from each station at 10, 15 and 20 yards with amazing speed from your recurve bow while gaining proficiency at each station. Don’t despair if you aren’t happy with your initial results, you can purchase additional arrows if you want to get the satisfaction of hitting that bullseye!

How it Works
- Read over a safety and training pamphlet
- Receive additional hands-on training upon arrival at the range
- Enjoy a practice round of archery to familiarize yourself with the equipment
- Enjoy your experience and purchase any upgrades during or after
- Get dropped off at the same place you were picked up
Requirements
- Must have demonstrable comprehension of rules and safety regulations to participate
- Must wear appropriate apparel for archery range environment (no high heels or dresses)
- Must use company furnished safety gear at all times
- Must have demonstrable ability to draw back the bow
- Must be a minimum of 10 years of age with ability to understand safety guides and regulations, or a parent/guardian to attend and take full responsibility
Recommendations
- Wear closed toe shoes such as boots, hiking shoes or sneakers
- This activity takes place outdoors and Ketchikan is well known for its rainfall- Please dress accordingly
- Tell us about your archery experience, training, or concerns you may have so we can make you comfortable
- Take aim and use careful hand-eye coordination along with your upper body strength to tackle your target.

How do I get there?
Your booking includes transportation through Cape Fox Tours. If your booking is through the Cape Fox Tours booth in the Visitors Center you will be provided with your transportation details at that time. Otherwise, visit there booth with your booking number for your departure location and schedule.

Kinetic energy of an arrow is the energy it has due to its motion. The more kinetic energy an arrow has the better the penetration will be all while holding other variables constant.
Modern recurve bows made from synthetic materials can be left strung for up to 3 weeks. For long-term storage your recurve bow should be unstrung.
